I had previously been suffering with SVT episodes for around 20years and although they were not life threatening they were becoming an inconvenience and a concern that later in life they could become more of a problem. I was referred to Dr Ginks for a consultation and the potential of an operation to rectify the episodes I was experiencing. I explained all my symptoms to Dr Ginks who listened intently to everything I said. Dr Ginks began to explain using diagrams exactly what was happening when I was experiencing the discomfort and how potentially that it could have been one of three possibilities. He explained in full each potential possibility, pausing at any time I had a question or was unsure, and also explained how each possibility could be rectified. Dr Ginks reassured me of any doubts I may have had, explaining in full the pros and cons of how the procedure would go. I left Dr Gink`s consultation feeling very positive and feeling like I was now an expert on my condition. On the day of the procedure Dr Ginks arrived on the ward and straight away came over to say good morning and ask how I was in general. This straight away put me at ease as it was not all about the nature of the procedure he was about to perform. After general chit chat we did get onto the main reason I was there and he explained how the day’s procedure would go. I couldn’t have asked for anything more, I was treat throughout with respect and dignity and always kept totally informed of everything from start to finish. A nice personal touch was being introduced to everybody who would be present in the operating room; it made everything feel less formal which in turn made me feel very relaxed. Dr Ginks is a true gentleman who articulates himself in a professional way but also on a personal level that completely puts one’s mind at rest. I have total confidence in Dr Ginks and his team’s abilities and personal care; why can`t everything be this simple? Thank you for everything Ben Wilde

Following a TIA in September 2013 I was referred to the Arrhythmia Clinic. Dr Matthew Ginks performed my first atrial ablation in April 2014. Unfortunately, I was a difficult customer and two more ablations were undertaken. It appeared I was in the 5% that couldn't be sorted by the procedure. Matthew discussed the options of having a pacemaker for this stubborn heart. In August of this year he inserted a pacemaker and on 19th October performed an AV Node Ablation. We both believe the symptoms will now cease and this last procedure is a success. Since the very first moment of meeting Dr Matthew Ginks I have had the utmost confidence in him. His medical expertise, concern for my welfare, wisdom, care, consideration and patience has been consistent with a determination to achieve the very best outcome for me. I consider myself extremely lucky to have had him as my Consultant. Matthew has always been available to answer questions (and there have been many), explain procedures in detail, and really wanted to ensure I understood possible outcomes and be as comfortable as possible before, during and after the procedures. The procedure team lead by Matthew have been reassuring, fun but totally professional and efficient as were the supporting care of the day unit. I shall always be grateful to them for making me comfortable and calm on each visit. I do not think I can make any suggestions to improve care. Thank you Jeanette B

Following a heart attack, and with persistent Atrial Fibrillation I was referred to Dr Ginks. I was terrified, my family were scared..but Dr Ginks calmed us all. His clear, honest descriptions of the treatments I needed set us all at ease. He helped us understand how the catheter ablations would restore my heart rhythm to normal. He guided us through the cardioversions and now, I have come out the other side and enjoy life, and living again. Thank you Matthew and the wonderful team that surround you, or in the words of one of my grandchildren " granny, you can play again".

I was very impressed with Dr Ginks from my first appointment with him. I had researched my condition and he explained what was happening and drew a diagram to explain the treatment he recommended. He explained all the positives and possible side effects most clearly. At all times I was spoken to in a manner I could understand and treated with respect. I decided to have the ablation and decided to pay for this so that I could have this done at a time convenient for me and he never encouraged me to do so and explained he could do this on the NHS in a few months time. He also kept the cost down to a minimum. After booking the procedure, he kept in touch in a caring friendly way. At all times I was made to feel reassured and on the day of the procedure he was quietly comforting to quell any nervousness. Afterwards he was very factual about everything and I was most confident that things had gone well and I had been in safe hands. He,has also kept in contact in a very friendly and pleasant way. I would definitely wish to be treated by him if I had need in the future. I would have no qualms about recommending him to anyone.
